BMT Acquires Baxter Eadie Limited

08-Oct-2007

BMT Group Ltd announced today the acquisition of Baxter Eadie Limited, specialist consultants in ports, shipping and land transport, to enhance its international ports and logistics offering to customers.

Founded 27 years ago, Baxter Eadie has an extensive portfolio of expertise including port planning and development, market surveys, traffic forecasting, statistical analysis, risk analysis and management and financial modeling.

Peter French, Chief Executive, BMT Group Ltd commented:  "With global trade continuing to grow, the pressure to develop new ports and to improve existing facilities is increasing.  The provision of the infrastructure needed to support this worldwide trade growth will require innovative solutions to be developed and this acquisition is central to our strategy to bring BMT's expertise to bear on the issue.  Baxter Eadie will provide us with unrivalled experience and specialist skills to help us meet this aim."

Richard Scott Kerr, Director, Baxter Eadie Ltd commented:  "BMT and Baxter Eadie share many core values and have a common vision of the contribution they can make to the development of the maritime industry.  Working as part of the BMT group, we can use our combined strengths to offer something unique in a thriving market where there is huge potential for the services we offer.   With a team that includes statisticians, transport economists and executives experienced in commercial companies across the transport sector, we look forward to continuing to deploy our skills particularly in trade analyses, port traffic forecasting and planning, due diligence appraisals and indeed all aspects of the operational and commercial management of ports and shipping lines."

Baxter Eadie has established an enviable reputation internationally and has increasingly been engaged by commercial and development banks on due diligence work to assess the operational and commercial viability and financial prospects for proposed port investments.

Earlier this year such assignments have been completed for the Dubai Islamic Bank, for DP World in respect to its terminal at Port Qasim, and for a South Korean consortium with interest in an investment at Vung Tau, Vietnam.  Other recent clients include Macquarie and Bouygues.  Similar assignments have been successfully completed by BMT Transport Solutions and Baxter Eadie, operating as BMT Baxter Eadie Ltd, will become part of this company's global network.
